I bumped into my friend again the other day. You remember him, the guy with the pregnant wife? Yeah, that's him. I saw him at a bar one night, drowning himself with a beer. I worked my considerable bulk over to him (it was crowded that night) and asked him what he was doing there on a night like this?
He replied, jokingly, that his wife kicked him out of the house for the night because her girl friends could have a "read-to-baby" session that night. In these sessions, I learned, his wife or one of her friends would read a book to the baby in the womb. This supposedly helps the baby's brain to develop and makes them more intelligent in the process.
But what about you, I asked. He answered that he gets to do it too, and he also pre-approves the books his wife's friends bring. Then he got up and paid his bill and mine. What a guy.
He had to get back, he told me, as he didn't want his wife to think that he had more than just beer when he went out.
I swear, if I ever became a woman, this was the man I'll marry. And we'll read books to baby together.
