So what is the price of a fast-paced trendy world? Only more drama and trauma! It comes for the prize of fitting in with the mindless herd. They say that we're opening up to global diversity, but I only see that we're still moving in that paradigm tilt (more like shit!).
Teenage girls and even boys are predisposed to the idea of beauty that is to be thin and slim,
hulk and buff. The culprit? The media and the fashion industry. They dictate what's in and what's not. Hence, stealing our sense of identity and personality. Although staying slim may have its healthy benefits, there are adverse effects too. It imposes so much pressure to waning self-esteems of its victims, pushing them to believe that by eating less, they'll be just as perky and pretty as those supermodels or hunks.
If you'll take a journey through their minds, you'll be surprised to find out that they live in delusions. Even when they're fit and thin, they see themselves as fat and hideous. That's not their bodies talking but their mind who's dictating. They also seem to develop weird eating habits for only they would know why.
When a family member is suffering from an
eating disorder, give them more support and courage to fight away their whimsical beliefs. Do not pressure them, instead, praise them and see the better qualities in them. Expect the worst, as they'll go through the stage of denial and resistance or even see signs of anger. But don't give up, and deal with it as early as possible through a counselor or doctor, before poison creeps up to their well- being.
