I love yogurt! My day is not complete without it. Before I go to work, I make sure I eat yogurt. Yoghurt or yogurt is actually a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. Yogurt is known as joghurt in German. Any type of milk can be used in yogurt making, however nowadays, yogurt production is dominated by cow's milk. Based on studies, it is the fermentation of milk sugar into lactic acid that gives yogurt its gel-like texture and characteristic tang. This is often marketed in a fruit,
vanilla, or chocolate flavor, but can also be unflavoured. Yoghurt is also rich in protein as well as several B vitamins and essential minerals and it is as low or high in fat as the milk it is made from.
There are different kinds of yogurt. Among these are Dahi yoghurt, Labneh or Labaneh, Bulgarian yoghurt, Yoghurt Drinks, Kefir, and
home-made yogurts. Dahi yogurt which originates from the Indian subcontinent, is known for its characteristics and consistency. Curd is the English term for yogurt in India. However, yogurt can also be made at home. It can be done using a small amount of store-bought plain live active culture yogurt as the starter culture. Definitely, most people in the world are hooked on yogurt. It only signifies the importance and the benefits that yogurt give on us. So, for a healthy life, eat yogurt.
